SMUDGY ANTICS

Welcome back for another Smudgy Antics' Challenge!

The challenge theme this week is
 "TWISTED SISTER".
How twisted can you get?  We want to see your dark or naughty side come out to play.  There's no need to hide or be squeamish, we are all freaks here...at least that's what those in The Land of Matilda say about us.
I wear my Freak Show Badge with pride and so should you (click this link to get your own freak show button)!  Heck, art is art.  I make dark, macabre, strange things, but that doesn't make me a mass murderer,or an unfeeling person.  It just means I am diverse in my creative process.  My mates make alternative works as well.  Come on, dive in and have some fun!  Screw the pretty, fluffy crap!  Save that for those other challenges.  We like it gritty around here...and TWISTED!

I bet you have already guessed i borrowed most of the above text from
Lady B,tweeked it a bit to suit me, but you now get the drift of our new challenge.
I made the cover for my mini album....the one that i put together during the 31 days..... this i shall now send to my TWISTED SISTER..... i used the words of the song I AM, (I'M ME) by TWISTED SISTER ( click the link and listen to the words..... its one of my favourites) as my inspiration.
Poe is here because i like him..... the heart has freedom in it..... the woman is bound, but is about to break free of the bonds. The woman, Poe, chain link fence and heart are all from SMEARED INK (all are rubber except the woman)
I hope you'll join us this week.....BE YOURSELF, BE FREE..... how ever TWISTED....thanks for visiting me. BDx

DELICIOUS DOODLES.... REMEMBERING

Welcome to our 10th Delicious Doodles challenge. Thank you for all your entries last week, so fabulous! This week sees Remembrance Sunday here in the UK.... and the US are just about to have Veterans day.... So in memory of all those who have died in action, also for everyone who has someone to remember, whatever the reason, our theme this week is 'Remembering'.
I have made a small shrine using one of Teri's lovely poppy images. I printed the image out 7 times, coloured it with promarkers.... fussy cut and decoupaged it up.
I used die-cuts around the shrine and to decorate the fake tea light..... the shrine is covered with DP that i heavily distressed with paint.
I have a few precious loved ones i like to remember..... and on Sunday i shall  remember all those who lost their lives during wars and conflict. I hope you'll join us this week, we look forward to seeing your remembrance projects.

NEW QUEST AT QUOTH THE RAVEN and DE-STEMPELWINKEL

We had a wonderful response to our challenge at QUOTH THE RAVEN last month...thank you for joining us, it made the four of us very happy and i'm sure Mr Poe would have been chuffed to bits too.
Our new challenge is a TIC-TAC-TOE challenge.... every simple.... lots of scope.... nothing difficult..... i chose to use 3D-POE-BLACK...... and as its my day to post on the DE-STEMPELWINKEL blog i used all stamps stocked by Jetske.
This project started its life as a 'MAKE PAIRS' game..... really cute farmyard animals..... soooo not me... but now its still 'make pairs' but POE STORY PAIRS.
I painted and distressed the box..... and the little wooden tiles..... i then stamped out 8 different images twice... coloured them in with promarkers and ink and stuck them to my tiles..... waited til they were dry then sanded them to distress the edges.
The lid of the box is a collage of all the stamps used for the tiles..... all stamped and masked....7masks in total were used..... coloured with promarkers and ink..... adhered to the lid and sanded. Everything has been sealed with a matte sealant. Now this is more type of creepmas present.
We hope you'll join us this month and look forward to visiting to see your creations.

SMUDGY ANTICS

Things are starting to settle down a bit here at SMUDGY ANTICS now that
The 31 Days of Halloween, Season 4, with Smeared and Smudged is finished.  Daily prize winners are listed here in the right sidebar and the grand prize winner is supposed to be announced sometime today!

This week's challenge is a fun one.  Can we interest anyone in a game of
TIC-TAC-TOE?  Just pick any three items in a row from the grid below.  You can go up and down, across, or diagonally.  Please make sure to list which three items you have used in the making of your project and use at least one stamped image ("real" or "digi").

* Please be aware that collage sheet images can be used in your projects, but they do not count as a stamped image.  If you use collage elements, please be sure to add a stamped image as well as stamping is
the Smeared and Smudged way :)

So i went with the left hand row...... PAINT, DISTRESS, HARDWARE/METAL.

I had this nice (originally pastel pink with a soft pink lining )musical jewellery box waiting for a make over...... so i painted it black....then did a distress paint technique with deep red....
i stamped the raven from SMEARED INK onto very thin paper and adhered it to the lid.....(there is also one on the underside of the lid.)I stamped 'memories'under the raven so it appears he's standing on the 'm'.... i then stamped small scrolls in the corners of the lid and onto the drawers..... then i carefully sanded all the edges back to bare wood in places....just enough to make it look well used.... 3 coats of vanish finished it off.
I hope you'll come and play TIC-TAC-TOE with us this week

DE-STEMELWINKEL

As my DT piece for DE-STEMPELWINKEL today i have a decorated candle to share with you.
I used the beautiful LEONARDO'S ANGEL , stamped onto tissue paper, coloured with (brighter than normal, as the colours end up very muted on tissue) promarkers and heat fused onto the lovely vanilla scented candle.
I made the box out of recycled acetate.
The flowers are made from scraps of fabric and pinned to the candle so they can be removed when its lit.
I'm not sure if i'll light  this one next weekend at our local churches remembrance service or make another with poppies on.... but i think Grandad would have liked this one.
Thanks for visiting BDx
